Video Game Evolution

There was a link on Blues News about a short video showing video game evolution on VideoSift. Various genres are examined in a series of short clips. Unfortunately, as noted in the comments, pre-rendered cutscenes are used for the newest games. Still, there are some classics in the list from arcade, console, and PC games.

Funny that the image quality has improved dramatically, but has the gameplay? Is there anything significantly different in the basketball games shown besides the graphics? Is this video nothing more than a marketing ploy?
