Short Interview With The Ill Clan

Blogcritics has a short interview with Ill Clan's Dellario and Dominianni, although it's written like an article (Sci/Tech section). There is also mention about some machinima news in the March issue of PC Gamer (haven't read it yet).

Tra5h Ta1k going to Second Life? Sounds like it.

Ira Glass on Story

I wasn't going to post again tonight (I have an itchy trigger finger, must go shoot some virtual terrorists or something) but this set of short video clips from Your Daily Awesome was too good not to pass along. The clips show Ira Glass, the host of This American Life, talking about storytelling. There is some very useful advice in the 8 or so minutes available. A few of the things he touches on I thought were particularly interesting. He says that it is essential that you produce a lot of content before you can get good at your craft (practice makes perfect), that you must be critical and cut all the bad stuff as much as possible as entropy drives everything towards disorder (and bad stories), and that the disparity between your critical eye/ear and what you yourself can produce will be an extremely large chasm. Those who never push themselves beyond that will never be good at what they do (or they completely cease producing) while those who brave push hard against the boundaries CAN go on to produce something worthwhile.

Useful advice for any part of your life.

Marino Interviewed

At the Aussie Machinima Festival, Paul Marino was interviewed by a guy who has a video podcast (filmed by Thomas Reynolds - podcast by Cameron Reilly - GDay World). It covers quite a few of the topics that were already mentioned/discussed/thrown about at the NY festival, but it's a nice introduction to machinima and there are a few new gems of wisdom/information.

A Few Interviews

Ownage.com has a few interviews up with some machinimists, and although most of the films made by the interviewees tend towards the fragfest variety, and the interviews sometimes read like a focus group for the Ownage site, there are a few interesting facts mentioned.

One of the better films is from Erik Bergmann. Red Green Blue - machinima Enemy Territory is a bizarre Benny Hill-like short that was done in Enemy Territory, although the film hides it's roots completely as everything (models, maps, textures) appears to be custom made. It's definitely a unique take on a chase scene with some hilariously dark moments (reminds me of Monty Python).

If I find anymore interesting flicks from the interviews I will post them here.
