Machinima Group Catharsis

Something in the aether?

A look at the past on Overman (or is it the future? - originally by Hugh) printed due to discussion of Bloodspell's distribution woes (and for an example of how fan creations can get into a lot of trouble how about the high stakes/profile case of the fan made encyclopedia covering the Harry Potter franchise - Risky Biz, Hollywood Reporter).
A look to the future (or is it the past?) on Dr. of Machinima.
And another on 3DFilmMaker.

Thanks to Overman for capturing the first. But this whole set should be part of some Machinima White Paper (or manifesto - take your pick). Somebody go carve it into some granite somewhere for future generations.

New Line - 40th Anniversary

A fascinating interview with the current co-CEOs of New Line, Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne on Charlie Rose tonight. Discussions on the future of cinema (all digital), franchises, New Line has an impressive lineup (Nightmare on Elm Street, Rush Hour, Lord of the Rings, Austin Powers), the foundation of the company, and big failures (The Last Mimsy, Snakes on a Plane).

Interesting that they reiterated a common theme among successful people, and that is passion for what they do.
